PTI raises hopes as Qureshi lands?

Former Punjab Governor and senior PTI leader Mian Muhammad Azhar expressed the hope on Monday that former PPP leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi would join them. Azhar said this despite Mr Qureshis denial to join Imran Khans party.

Mr Qureshi, it may be noted here, is all set to meet Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday in Lahore.
On the issue of forming political alliances, Azhar, however, said that decision to forge alliance with the Jamaat-e-Islami or any other party would be made before the next general election.
Azhar, who was addressing a joint sitting organised by TheNation and Nawa-i-Waqt, also shed light on the Mullen memo, saying it should be investigated thoroughly and the person found involved in the incident should be punished.

The former governor remarked that politicians befool the masses in the name of solving their problems. About the MFN status to India, Azhar said, We should have friendly relations with neighbouring countries. In the case of India, however, the Kashmir issue should be settled first.
He added, Kashmir is our jugular vein and no Pakistani can compromise it for the sake of other issues. Talking about the corruption, he remarked that a minister (who was found involved in corruption and returned Rs.45 million of kickbacks) hasnt resigned yet.

Narrating his story of differences with the PML-N, Azhar claimed, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif became infuriated when I invited PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto on the wedding of my daughter. Nawaz Sharif boycotted the marriage ceremony as his reaction to my invitation to BB. That was the beginning of our differences. On his parting ways with the PML-Q, Azhar said some interest groups had captivated the party.Azhar also met TheNation Editor-in-Chief and Nawa-i-Waqt Group Managing Director Mr Majid Nizami.

Goal of Pakistan’s creation not achieved: Nizami

TheNation Editor-in-Chief and Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust Chairman Majid Nizami said here on Saturday that the real objective of the creation of Pakistan was making the country an Islamic democratic and welfare state. But he regretted that this goal was yet to be achieved.Addressing the Ideological Teacher Training Workshop at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan here on Saturday, the NPT Chairman urged
upon the teachers to educate the students about the real purpose behind the creation of Pakistan.
“Tell the youth about the conspiracies of Hindus,” he stressed upon them. Assistant Education Officers from various areas of Punjab and teachers of Society Public School Mughalpura attended the workshop.
NPT Vice-chairman Professor Dr Rafique Ahmed also addressed on the occasion. The teachers visited the Pakistan Movement Workers gallery

besides a multimedia presentation was arranged for them.
Majid Nizami told the teachers that the NPT was pushing the government to comprise Pakistan movement into curriculum. However, he added, it was your duty to learn about Pakistan movement and then pass the same information to your students. Hindus were the real enemies of Pakistan, must tell the youth about their bad plots against the country, he stressed. Regretting upon the current circumstance, Majid Nizami said that the freedom was the greatest gift, though the people were facing problems.

“God forbid,” he said, “if we had continued living in united India, the situation for us [Muslims] would have been even worse.”Expressing sadness over the separation of Bangladesh, Majid Nizami said that it was our misfortune that those who presented Pakistan Movement, we compelled them for division.
“Thank God, Bangladesh is not a friend of India even after separation,” he said adding India would never be a true friend of any Muslim country.

No doubt Khaksar Tehrik, Jamat-e-Islami and JUI were against the creation of Pakistan but later these parties convinced and playing a vital role to save Pakistan, said the veteran journalist.

Paindabad Conference rejects trade with India

ISLAMABAD - Pledging to make Pakistan a modern Islamic welfare state, the Pakistan Paindabad Conference Thursday vowed to continue its struggle to uphold the sovereignty of the beloved motherland at all costs.

The conference, held at a local hotel under the auspices of Nazria-e-Pakistan Trust, Islamabad Chapter, was presided over by its chairman and Editor-in-Chief TheNation, Majid Nizami.
The speakers while addressing the conference made it clear that the nuclear-armed nation can also defend the ideology of Pakistan. They reiterated their firm resolve that the trade with India was unacceptable for themselves until and unless the Kashmir and water issues are resolved.
Majid Nizami took oath from the participants of the conference that the basic ideology of Pakistan would be protected and promoted while stability and integrity of Pakistan would be given top priority. ‘Paindabad Conferences’ are being held throughout the country under the directives of Majid Nizami with an aim to disseminate the message both at national and international level that Pakistan based on strong ideological and cultural foundations is a vibrant state and that had bravely faced many disasters. Such conferences further convey the message that the conspiracies of the enemies of Pakistan as well as of Islam will be foiled and the country will rise as one of the greatest nations of Asia.

Former Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmed was the chief guest on the occasion. Former Chief of Army Staff Lt General (Retd) Mirza Aslam Baig, Lt General (Retd) Hamid Gul, President Nazria-e-Pakistan Trust (NPT) Lt General (Retd) Abdul Qayyum, former prime minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, Editor the Pakistan Sardar Khan Niazi, Editor Jinnah Khushnood Ali Khan, and Vice President NPT Arif Sheikh were the key speakers on the occasion. Malik Fidaur Rehman, Joint Secretary NPT and Zafar Bakhtawari, Secretary NPT performed the duties of stage secretary on the occasion. Besides many former ambassadors, civil society representatives, retired army officers, politicians, lawyers, students and members of NPT, Lt General (Retd) Majeed Malik, Dr Khalida Samar Mand Mubarak were also among the important participants of the conference.
Chairman Nazria-e-Pakistan Trust, Majid Nizami while emphasising upon the importance of ideology of Pakistan Friday said that Pakistan might not come into being without its existence.
Majid Nizami said that the decision to hold Paindabad Conferences throughput the country was taken at a time when some news reports appeared in the press that Pakistan would no more be a part of the world map after some years. “We decided that Pakistan would live forever,” he added. He further said that though the country was broken into two pieces in 1971, Bangladesh did not become part of India and it was an independent state. He emphasised that India is the enemy of Bangladesh in the same way as it was of Pakistan.

He while congratulating General (Retd) Abdul Qayyum for holing such a marvellous moot opined that the new generation should know why Pakistan came into being and if it was not there how much they would be in bad condition. He further said that the youth should know who are Hindus and who are Jews? He said that whosoever would challenge Pakistan, it would face severs resistance.
“Some people question about the ideology of Pakistan and I say that if it had not been there, there might have no existence of Pakistan,” he stressed. He recalling his past days passed with the Hindus before partition of 1947 said that Hindus used to treat Muslims in a very inhuman and discriminatory way. “We were not allowed to enter their houses as they believe our entry will make these unclean,” he informed.
Majid Nizami said that people used to question what they got from Pakistan. “I think that at the time of creation of Pakistan, people had not belongings and now they have each and every thing of the necessity of life and all this is because of Pakistan,” he answered.
He said that the people would decide that whether or not Nawa-i-Waqt always raised its voice of truth against the oppressive rulers. He said that the first martial law dictator of Pakistan, Ayub Khan banned the government advertisements and newsprint for Nawa-i-Waqt and desired to meet him that he always rejected. “I met him after his retirement and he asked me that now you should be happy as the democracy of ‘your choice’ in the country has been revived,” he said. He said that he answered him how he could be happy as he had gifted the nation with another general, Yahya Khan.
He further informed that in Yahya Khan’s regime, the government had opened some fake case against the newspaper editors and he was one of them. “Once Yahya gave me the message at the behest of Maulana Kausar Niazi that if I apologised to him then he could close all these case but I always refused to apologise.”

“Our relations with General Ziaul Haq were like carrot and stick and once in a group interview he (ZIA) asked me why did I not ask a question from him,” he said. I remained silent but when he insisted, I asked him when would he surrender his powers. Majid Nizami informed the participants that he, after 9/11, in a meeting of editors with General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf had asked him, “You have surrendered before US just on a telephonic call”. After this, Tariq Aziz informed him quoting Pervez Musharraf that Majid Nizami was a very arrogant person and he had decided not to invite him in any meeting. “But I asked him that he would not attend any meeting unless Musharraf apologised him,” he added.
He recalling the days of late 90s said that he was the person who persuaded Nawaz Sharif to carry out nuclear tests. He further informed that he stood by Fatima Jinnah in Ayub era when the majority of the press was supporting the dictator.

He viewed that though there was no writ of the state in these day, and inflation, thefts throughout the country were on the rise yet they should not be disappointed with the future of Pakistan as the country would live forever and they would be in a better position in future. He advised President Asif Ali Zardari not to surrender before the US.

Speaking on the occasion, Former Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmed said there was a dire need of concentrating on education system and curriculum development. There should be a uniformed education system as the feudal lords and bureaucrats are keeping people away from education intentionally.

He said that they should give full attention to Islamic teaching. “It is a good sign that aristocrats are talking about ideology of Pakistan,” he added. Defence experts have expressed that if they would follow ideology of Pakistan no one could defeat them. He said that enemy of the country is trying to changes the education system and curriculum as they are against the ideology.
“They want to see Pakistan as secular state and our neighbouring country is against our ideology. Pakistan is an ideological state. Those who argue that Pakistan is a secular state by giving the reference of Quaid-e-Azam’s speech on 11 August 1947, are making an attempt to defame great Quaid.” he added.

Nizami for setting up Turkey-Iran-Pakistan bloc

LAHORE – Delivering a lecture on a “Changing Turkey” held at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan, a Turkish scholar said here on Tuesday that practicing secularism in a Muslim state was not a bad idea. Professor Dr Ihsan Yilmaz, an associate professor at Fatih University Istanbul and Chairman Rumi Forum, was of the view that ruling Justice and Development Party won more than 50 per cent seats in Turkey’s recent election because of its secular posture.
Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust and Pakistan Movement Worker’s Trust jointly organised the lecture at Aiwan on Tuesday. TheNation Editor-in-Chief and NPT Chairman Majid Nizami presided over the sitting. Majid Nizami stressed the need for establishing a bloc comprising Turkey, Iran and Pakistan for strengthening defence and economic ties between the brother Muslim countries. He expressed his feeling of love for the Turkish people and for the land of Maulana Rumi.

NPT Vice-chairman Professor Dr Rafique Ahmad welcoming the guest speaker described that how the Muslims of the region started Caliphate Movement in the Sub-continent and how much affiliation and love they had for their Turk brothers. A good number of people from different walks of life and students attended the event.

Dr Yilmaz told the gathering that Turkish people were well-aware about the sentiment of Pakistani people for Turkey and they have the same feelings for their Pakistani Muslim brothers. Speaking in the context of exercising western democracy in a Muslim state, he said that Islam was open to use democracy and allow running institutions like parliament in a Muslim state.

“The Holy Quran is a source of guidance and asks the humanity to find solutions of their problems themselves.” He moved on to saying, “The Holy Book holds very few verses on political matters and only 300 other deal with the legal issues.” He added: Majority of those 300 verses are about personal matters. So various schools of thoughts were established by Muslim scholars to constitute laws.” Professor Ihsan held that laws being practiced in the past Muslim states were totally manmade. “We should understand that if those laws were manmade then the Muslim states run under those laws were in fact secular states,” according to Ihsan Yilmaz. He asserted that not only a modern Turkey, but the Ottoman Empire under Suleiman the Magnificent used to practice secular laws. Half of the members in Suleiman’s cabinet were non-Muslims, he said. When Pakistan Movement Workers’ Trust’s Chairman Colonel (R) Jamshaid Ahmad Tareen pointed out that actually the Ottoman Empire had been practicing Islamic laws and it was Suleiman who had introduced some legal changes under the influence of his Ruthenian-origin wife, Mr Yalmiz said that that issue was debateable.

He told the sitting that the ruling Justice and Development party in Turkey was introducing reforms to weaken military influence in politics.
“We should establish educational institutions to produce doctors, engineers, lawyers and journalists. We should adopt universal teaching of Islam to promote peace, justice and development in society.” He stressed on adopting Ijtihad and concluded by saying that Islamic law could be flexible and pluralistic and, contrary to stereotype, could be used in a Muslim nation for the promotion of democracy.

The sitting expressed the feelings of grief and sorrow over the recent earthquake in Turkey and said the people of Pakistan were standing with their Turkish brothers on this incident of pain.
